Batting Profiles

Shows individual spray charts for all players with an at bat during a game. It can also be generated from historical data for the entire season.

Baseball Explorer

The Baseball Explorer design provides an intuitive tool to arrange and organize your game scoring efforts.

Selecting a league folder displays all the teams within that folder, the coaches’ names, addresses, and phone numbers. Clicking a single team shows all the games in which that team had participated.

Laptop Baseball scoring software makes it easy to manage teams and leagues by utilizing the Baseball Explorer to visually arrange the teams and their games within a familiar explorer environment. It works much like your computer’s operating system explorer because you create folders and drag-n-drop team files. The explorer is sophisticated enough to show the architecture of an entire league, or simple enough to track a single season of games for just one team.

Double-clicking a team brings up the team’s roster. Double-clicking a game opens the game. Team rosters, lineups, and fielding positions for each team are also accessed from this screen.

The explorer is also capable of importing/exporting player files and games from other computers that were used onsite to score the game(s).

Scoring software is a great tool for coaches and league administrators, but they also need a way to ‘see the Big Picture’. Baseball Explorer does just that, by associating teams with their games in a friendly operating environment.

Fielding Scoring

Laptop Baseball includes a fielding diagram to drag-n-drop the path of the baseball during play. As you drag the ball to each fielder, it posts the fielder’s position (i.e., F6) and draws a red line between fielders handling the ball. Since the fielding positions are mapped automatically, this feature provides a learning tool for the novice scorer. If you make a mistake, simply click ‘Undo Scoring’and the ball is reset to its original location on the field ready for another drag-n-drop attempt.

A Defensive profile is also available to track the number of plays the fielder was involved with and the error(s) committed during the game. This profile includes player substitutions made during the game at the different fielding positions.

Game Batting - Fielding

Shows team spray charts; batting and fielding percentages; inning box scoring. Developed to compare the two team's performances instantly utilizing this tool.

Game Pitching Stats

Historical pitching statistics and charts can be created in the Report Generator. Below is a typical game summary that shows the pitching chart, outlining pitch locations and statistics (i.e., number of pitches, hits, strikes, balls, strikeouts, walks, ERA, and more).

League Batting Report

Reports batting and fielding data for the whole league. Can be filtered to select a group of games, all games, or particular time frames (dates of play). Can also return a single division of teams, or conference. This report also converts these statistics to Excel spreadsheets with a single click.

League Pitching Report

Details the location of pitches and reports pitching statistics for a conference, division, or entire league. Pitchers are listed by lowest to highest ERA.

Lineup

Laptop uses drag and drop Team and Game profiles. You can create one main Team profile and customize it for each new indiviual game; Fielding Positions offer the same functionality.

Pitching Box

The Pitch Box scores statistics for the pitchers and base path advancements (i.e., Steals, Balks, etc…) throughout the game. The PB also tracks the placement of pitches (optional) and displays a chart summarizing the 9 basic locations (i.e., high-inside, low-outside, etc…) of pitches for the game.

Player Assignments

Show the Lineups and Fielding positions for both teams in the game. Lineups can be called and changed from this screen.

Playing Field

The main scoring tool is Laptop Baseball's Playing Field. It incorporates drag and drop capability to emulate the actual events taking place on the field. Pitches are dragged to the location on the matching Pitch Box chart.

The playing field features are designed to give as much information as possible without having type characters or click to open other screens. There is no need to type anything, it is totally automated to respond to the events of the play as dictated by the user's drags and clicks.

Quick Team

The Quick Team (QT) screen will create a generic lineup and positions with player numbers pre-assigned. Normally you would have to create a roster and then create the ensuing lineup and fielding position schemes.

With QT, simply provide a team name and Save, or change numbers and names to match the opposing team. This feature is especially useful in tournament games when facing teams you are unfamiliar with and their coach hands you his lineup 5 minutes before the game.

You can create a team on the fly in a matter of a few seconds. The first 9 players listed on the QT screen occupy the first 9 players of the Lineup and Positions. You can choose to arrange the batting lineup order initially, or change the lineup and positions after the QT is created.

QT incorporates a spinner control to select jersey numbers. Click the jersey and it changes to the number that appears within the spinner’s jersey icon. After all the jersey numbers are selected, simply type the team name into “Enter Team Name” and click “Save”.

Teams can typically be created in less than a minute (numbers only) by utilizing the point and click operations designed into this screen.

Report Generator

Statistical reports provide team spray patterns and typical batting metrics (i.e., At Bat (AB), Hits (H), Runs R), etc…). The statistics can be provided for a game in progress or a historical game(s). Game reports are preformatted to show both teams’ statistics with a single mouse click.

Divisional and league reports can be generated based on dates, individual games, or by selecting all the teams in an entire league.

Scoring Ledger

The Ledger Screen catalogs a comphrensive snapshot of each play for one or both teams. Typical pitching and batting metrics are included. Historical ledgers can be recreated for any past game using the Report Generator.
